VaultXchange Shop comes with every Shop tool on both plans. The only difference between them is how you pay. Here's how each one works and how to pick.
Flat: one price, no percentage
- $399.99 a month, or $3,999.90 a year (two months free).
- No VaultXchange transaction fee. VaultXchange takes no percentage of your sales.
- You know exactly what you'll pay every billing period.
Scaling: 2% instead of the monthly fee
- 2% of in-person card payments you take through VaultXchange POS with Square.
- The 2% is on the pre-tax merchandise amount.
- No monthly minimum. A slow month costs less.
- Scaling is approved for each shop.
The most important part: Scaling replaces the monthly fee. You never pay both. On Scaling there's no $399.99. On Flat there's no 2%.
Square's own processing fee is separate from either plan. Square charges it, the same way it does today.
Where the break-even is
The math is simple. 2% of $20,000 is $400, which is about the Flat monthly price.
- Under about $20,000 a month in card payments through VaultXchange POS, Scaling costs less than Flat monthly.
- Over about $20,000 a month, Flat monthly costs less.
- If you'd pay yearly, Flat works out to about $333 a month, so the break-even drops to roughly $16,700 a month.

Which one should you choose?
Choose Scaling if:
- You're a newer or smaller shop, or your sales swing a lot by season.
- You want your software cost to rise and fall with your sales.
- You'd rather not commit to a fixed monthly cost while you get set up.
Choose Flat if:
- Your monthly card payments through VaultXchange POS are well over $20,000.
- You want a predictable bill.
- You'd like to pay yearly and save two months.
What about Founding Member pricing?
The first 20 shops can lock in Founding Member pricing: $199.99 a month on the Flat plan, for as long as they stay on the Founding plan. It's monthly billing only. At that price, Flat beats Scaling for any shop doing more than about $10,000 a month in card payments.
Same tools either way
Both plans include the same Shop tools: point of sale, trade-ins and store credit, inventory and live pricing, Sell Your Cards, events and tournaments, reports, and the connection to your customers in the VaultXchange app. You choose what your workspace shows at signup, and the price doesn't change.
Questions we hear
Does the 2% apply to trade-ins? No. Scaling counts in-person card payments you take through VaultXchange POS with Square. Paying a customer for their cards isn't a sale.
Is there a minimum? No. If you have a quiet month, you pay 2% of what you sold.
